EAB has spread to Minneapolis and southeastern Minnesota, and in 2016 was discovered in greater Duluth. The cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are currently in the process of removing nearly 60,000 ash trees, many of which were planted to replace trees lost to Dutch elm disease.
